Recap: Trade log for the week of July 6

Sat, July 11, 2026 - 4 min read

The week looked messier than the index close says. From the July 2 holiday close to Friday, the S&P 500 went from 7,483 to 7,575, up 1.2%, and the Nasdaq went from 25,833 to 26,282, up 1.7%. Russell slipped 0.6%, VIX came in from 16.2 to 15.0, and crude moved from $68.69 to $71.41. Under the hood, it was still a pretty jumpy tape.

GOOG was the main management trade. Monday I bought back the old 7/24 $330 put at $1.92 and locked $627.88 from the June roll. Tuesday I sold the 7/8 $355 put for $1.21. Wednesday I rolled it to the 7/17 $350 for a $1.16 credit. Friday I rolled the $350 to the 7/24 $345 for a $4.08 credit. Net on the July GOOG chain is +$638.79 so far, with the open position now at the 7/24 $345.

NVDA was the standout from the watchlist, no question. We posted the 7/17 $185 put Tuesday night. MIQ had it Risky because the chart was still damaged, but the contract was usable: 2.0% spread, $1.44 listed premium, 6.1% cushion. Wednesday I sold it at $1.29 and bought it back at $0.67, about 50% of max-profit. NVDA opened Wednesday at $195.18 and closed Friday at $210.96. That is an 8.1% move, and we caught the good part in basically a half-day trade.

WMT was smaller but useful. I sold the 7/10 $117 covered call Tuesday for $0.25 and bought it back the same day at $0.08, then reset with the 7/17 $120 on Friday for $0.10. IBKR paid $63.33 of cash interest too. At the CSV level, realized income from trades, dividends, and interest is $10,493.13 year to date before marking the open stock positions. Heading into next week, the book is simple: GOOG 7/24 $345 put open, WMT 7/17 $120 call open. Let those work, keep cash ready, and do not force the next trade.

Standout Names from this Week’s Boring CSPs

Ticker Contract Setup Score Contract Score mIQ Move
NVDA 7/17 $185 PUT 42.7 59 Risky $195.18 → $210.96 (+8.1%)

This is exactly why the nightly board matters. NVDA was on the sheet Tuesday night, the move showed up Wednesday, and the option let us take the meat of it fast. No victory lap needed. Just a good trade.
